Artmaking…

"The reasons you have for doing what you're doing are probably the most important aspect of your work. It's not about the final product. In fact, too much emphasis on the outcome blinds you to what is really at the bottom of it all." — Gregori Bresaz

Guitar Maquette

Guitar Maquette

Maquette | maˈket |noun
a sculptor’s small preliminary model or sketch.

Although life size, I made this small section of a guitar as a birthday gift and to test how the combination of materials and their various colors come together.

Materials: ebony fingerboard; Indian rosewood back and sides; western red cedar top; Evo Gold (copper alloy) fret wire; ebony binding; spruce, poplar, and ebony used in creating the rosette (see sidebar: Making a Rosette); garnet french polish.
